New dual-purpose safety camera to target speeders and red-light jumpers at busy Springburn Road junction

24/03/2026

Police Scotland Safety Cameras are introducing enforcement measures on Springburn Road, Glasgow, to reduce casualties and improve road safety.

The Vector SR camera is located at the junction of Springburn Road with Atlas Road and will target both speeding and red-light jumping—the two primary causes of collisions at this busy location. With 13 injury collisions recorded in just five years, the site was identified as a priority for enforcement. The camera system in place uses advanced tracking radar to monitor multiple lanes simultaneously, ensuring drivers adhere to both traffic signals and speed limits.

Alan Bowater, West Safety Camera Area Manager, ‘Speeding and red-light jumping at this busy junction have led to several injury-collisions. We are introducing enforcement to encourage safer driving and better compliance. Drivers who continue to ignore these rules will face a £100 fine and three penalty points on their licence.’
