Temporary Average Speed Cameras to Enforce 30mph Limit on A737 at St James Viaduct

Police Scotland Safety Cameras are advising motorists that temporary average speed cameras (TASCAR) will begin enforcing a 30mph speed limit on the A737 at St James Viaduct.

The enforcement is necessary to ensure the safety of road users and workers while Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, undertakes essential structural repairs to the bridge expansion joints. Recent bridge investigations identified the need for more extensive maintenance than originally anticipated, leading to an extension of the current traffic management.

The cameras will run from the A738 St James Interchange, at St James Viaduct, leading to the M8 junction 29 eastbound. While a lane closure has been in place, the 30mph limit will apply to the eastbound carriageway to protect traffic travelling over temporary bridging units installed at the west abutment.
